We are a Registered Charity (Registered with the Charities Commission no, 1159086) run purely on a voluntary basis, whose aims are to provide Engineering projects to young people in and around Goole. Since the early days we have gained great support and sponsorship from Companies and individuals across the country and overseas.
Jack Milnes our Chairman has had a life long love of aircraft, he joined the air cadet in his youth at 1146 Squadron in Devon where he grew up, At 16 he joined the RAF as an electronics engineer. Since then he has spent 25 years working in corporate IT for major blue chip companies. He holds a private pilots licence, a RYA day skippers ticket and has spent the 4 last years running The Spirit Of Goole. (Jack is not related to Chris Milnes)
Chris Milnes is an Ex B1 Category instructor with 642 VGS based at RAF Linton on Ouse, where he taught Air Cadet GS students on the Vigilant TMk1 motor glider. He started gliding when he was 14 years old, and flew over 400 sorties in various single and twin seater gliders. After getting married, He switched to powered aircraft gained a PPL at the age of 28, which he has held ever since. He has flown a very broad range of aircraft from basic twin seaters to twin engine aircraft, but has a strong love of vintage or ‘fun’ aircraft, including many hours touring in a very cranky 1946 Piper Cub J3 and a couple of aerobatic aircraft. He currently has 700 hours on powered aircraft.
Chris lives with his Wife and Daughter in Leeds, where he works for a company called PPS as Global Business Development Manager.
Andy Pearson knew from a young age he would fly aeroplanes so when he quit Rally driving he began flying lessons and gained his Private Pilots Licence in 1996. By the year 2000 he was instructing Cadets on the Vigilant T1 motor glider at 643 VGS RAF Syerston, followed by 642 VGS RAF Linton on Ouse and currently serving 645 VGS RAF Topcliffe. He’s self employed looking after the IT needs of small businesses in Yorkshire and enjoys riding his Retro Mountain Bikes in the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales.
